This chair has an 'alternating air cushion' which uses an air pump to continuously inflate and deflate 6 dynamic air cells. At any one time, only 4 of the cells are inflated at once bringing pressure relief to the other areas. A 240V electrical supply is required for the pump which is usually positioned next to the chair.
